Review: FITS Ultra Light 3/4 trail socks

We reviewed FITS Socks’ Performance Trail socks in August, and they’ve held a special place in the sock drawer ever since.

Now the folks at FITS are releasing an ultra-light version for those of us who want a barely-there sock.

The 50 percent wool, 40 percent nylon, 7 percent polyester and 3 percent Lycra spandex socks are everything we’ve come to expect from this made-in-America company — just without all the extra cushion.

We love them for all the reasons we love the Performance Trails: They keep our feet dry, and the deep heel pocket keeps them in place.

The 3/4 height makes them ideal for pairing with my Hokas; the socks come up high enough to keep the very tall Hokas from rubbing my ankles and Achilles.

These dry fast when dunked in streams and hold up well when dunked in the wrong load of laundry. They are the infantrymen of socks; no pampering, no special instructions, no fuss.

“Our socks are constructed from two-ply, compact-spun, ultra-fine Merino Wool, providing the ultimate blend of softness and durability,” FITs reps say on their website. “Our F3 Technology delivers a unique form FIT thanks to a deep heel pocket, specialized toe seam, and contoured leg — which keep FITS socks firmly in place.”

Yeah. What they said.

Get them starting July 7 at www.fitssocks.com for $17.99.
